The drug delivery enabling technology of the PWD will be demonstrated at the American Burn Association meeting on March 21-24, 2017 in Boston, MA. Dr. Kristo Nuutila will present the poster entitled: “Topical minocycline hydrogel penetrates the eschar of a full-thickness burn and significantly reduces subeschar tissue biopsy bacterial counts.”
Dr. Nuutila has also won an oral presentation at the Wound Healing Society “WHS” meeting APRIL 5—9, 2017 in SAN DIEGO, entitled: “IMMEDIATE TOPICAL APPLICATION OF MINOCYCLINE HYDROGEL DECREASES BURN WOUND NECROSIS AND REDUCES TISSUE BACTERIAL COUNTS.”
The findings presented discuss topical wound treatment with antibiotics and demonstrate only a single capability of the algorithm of the use of the PWD (Platform Wound Device). The PWD also enables treatment with topical delivery of analgesics, Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) without the use of a foam or gauze intermediary contact layer, fixation for skin grafts, including Xpansion grafting with micrografts, and the treatment of scar.
